Once you submit your project for distribution — check here if you're not sure you've finished — there are still a few steps on our end before your music reaches our partners. Here's what happens after you hit "Submit for Distribution."
Step 1: We process your release
We convert your audio and artwork into the various formats our partners require.
Step 2: We inspect your release
After processing, your release goes to our inspection team to confirm it meets our partners' requirements.
- Inspection takes 1-2 business days with Fast Forward, or 7-14 business days without
- Any changes you make to your release during inspection take it out of the queue and put it at the back of the line
| Result | What happens |
|---|---|
| Passes inspection | Your release is delivered to our partners — you'll get an email confirming it's approved and finalized for distribution |
| Needs adjustments | You'll get an email asking for your final approval; it'll link to a summary of your submission so you can confirm the details before we send it out |
| Doesn't pass inspection | You'll get an email detailing the issues to resolve before resubmitting |
Step 3: We deliver your release to our partners
- Once delivery begins, your release is usually ingested within 1-2 weeks, though some sites can take up to 8 weeks
- Not seeing your music on a specific platform after that? See Why is my release not on Spotify (or another partner)?
- If you selected a future release date, your release stays offline until that date — even if it's already been delivered and ingested
Frequently asked questions
What happens if I edit my release during inspection? It's removed from the queue and placed back at the end of the line, which adds to your wait time.
I set a future release date — will my music go live early if it's delivered sooner? No. Your release stays offline until your chosen release date, regardless of when it's delivered or ingested.
