Here’s how to include a track you’ve already distributed as a single into a full album without losing its streaming history. For example, if you released “Song A” as a single, this guide walks you through adding “Song A” into your upcoming album and preserving its play counts.
How to add a distributed single to your album
- When submitting your new album via CD Baby, include the track again in the album’s tracklist.
- Use the same ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) for that track.
- This signals that the recording is identical.
- Metadata (title, artist name, featuring credits, etc.) must match exactly.
- On the ISRC page during album submission, select “I have my own ISRCs” and enter that same code for the previously released track.
- For tracks on the album that were not released before, you can ask CD Baby to assign new ISRCs.
- The single release and the full album need different UPC barcodes (since they’re different products).
Things to note
- You can't convert an existing single submission into an album; you must create a separate album submission.
- Be especially careful that all metadata is identical when repeating the track (titles, artist names, featuring, etc.).
- If you submit a version that has different audio (e.g., remix, radio edit), it’s considered a new recording and needs a new ISRC.
