If we find that a release is using original audio by another artist, or if audio is being used that has previously been distributed with different metadata, the release will be flagged.
A release can be flagged if:
- There is full audio being used that the user does not own.
- There is a clip of audio used that the user does not own.
- There is audio used that has already been distributed with different metadata (different artist name, different title, missing a featuring artist, etc.) in the past even if that previous release was cancelled.
- The audio contains content that is not exclusively yours to use like royalty-free beats, sound-alike beats, stock sounds, drum loops, samples, GarageBand loops, leased or purchased beats, ambient sounds, content from the public domain, etc.
These flags may appear if at least one track on your release falls within the above categories.
If the audio is yours and you are changing your artist name, please be aware that some of our digital partners will hide, or possibly reject, the updated version if you use the same sound recording delivered before with a new or different artist name. If this is the case, please check out our advice about changing your artist name.
If we find that the audio is a remix of original audio of another artist, we will require adequate documentation proving you have the rights to use the original audio in this remix.
If we find that audio matches exactly against original audio that belongs to another artist, we will simply deny the release from our distribution services.
