Use a consistent title format that identifies the work and the specific movement. Keep composer names in the composer credits rather than repeating them in each track title.
Format a work or movement
A useful pattern is: Work title, key, catalog number: movement number. Movement title. Include only details that apply to the work. For example, "Symphony No. 4 in F Minor, Op. 36: I. Andante Sostenuto".
For an excerpt from a larger collection, include the larger work or collection name and catalog number so the movement can be identified. For example, "24 Caprices for Violin, Op. 1: No. 15 in E Minor".
If a work is commonly known by a nickname, put the nickname in quotation marks before a colon, followed by the formal work details. For example, "Symphony No. 6 in B Minor, Op. 74 "Pathétique": I. Adagio sostenuto".
Opera, arrangements, and versions
For an opera excerpt, include the opera title, catalog number if applicable, act, and track title. Put arrangement details in the title when they help identify the recording. For example, "Così Fan Tutte, K. 588, Act I: "Smanie Implacabili"".
Put a translation or version description in parentheses at the end of the title. Do not add the composer’s name to the track title.
