By signing the Publishing Administration Addendum for a release, you granted CD Baby certain exclusive rights which allow us to administer your publishing. It's important to understand what you are agreeing to prior to signing this agreement. You can view the full agreement from within your account before signing, but it can also be found here.

Be advised, the information below is meant to be a general overview of the publishing administration agreement and does not include a large majority of information that is included in the actual agreement. This is just to help give you a better idea of what you're signing up for before you start the process.

CD Baby Pro Publishing is an exclusive worldwide publishing administration service. A songwriter cannot have an active agreement with another publisher or publishing administrator (in any country or territory) for any works they are credited on as a collecting songwriter that are signed up with CD Baby Pro Publishing. You have the option to set up territory restrictions for digital distribution, but these territory restrictions do not apply to registering your works or collecting publishing royalties.

Term; Termination

There is a minimum term of one year which starts when you finalize your submission for Pro Publishing. The term will renew on a quarterly basis if you do not submit a request to cancel Pro Publishing.

Terminating the publishing agreement triggers our one-year post-term collection period. This allows publishing royalties generated during the term of our agreement to be paid out to you through your CD Baby account.

Grant of Rights

This section outlines in detail which rights you are granting CD Baby by signing this agreement. We urge you to consult with an attorney should you need further clarification on the Grant of Rights, or any other section of this agreement. The clauses included in this section are what allow us to register your works and collect your publishing royalties from various sources around the world.

As your publishing administrator, we do not take any percentage ownership of your publishing. Instead, we take a 15% administrative fee from the publishing royalties we or our agents and affiliates have collected on your behalf.

*The CD Baby Pro Publishing service was discontinued as of August 8th, 2023. Any paid release which was signed up for CD Baby Pro Publishing prior to August 8th, 2023 is considered a legacy Pro release and will continue to receive Pro Publishing services. CD Baby now offers a new expanded suite of revenue amplifiers called “CDB Boost” instead.
