Payment processes can vary depending on your country and banking regulations. If you live in Brazil, Canada, or Colombia, there may be extra steps to ensure your payments are successfully deposited. This article explains what to expect and how to avoid delays.
Receiving payments in Brazil
There are two ways funds are processed, depending on how your financial institution ingests the currency:
If deposited in USD
- CD Baby sends funds directly to your financial institution in Brazil.
- Processing time varies by institution.
If deposited in BRL
- Funds are sent to a third-party financial institution.
- This institution will:
- Contact you to register with the Central Bank of Brazil (required for international payments).
- Release funds to your bank after registration is complete.
Requesting documentation
- Third-party institutions may request:
- Invoice, statement, or wire transfer confirmation from CD Baby.
- To obtain this:
- Submit a support request:
- Select “Earnings from my music” under “Sales, Payments, and Taxes”.
- Use subject line: “Swift Wire Confirmation”.
- Submit a support request:
- CD Baby will provide the required documentation to confirm the payment.
Receiving payments in Canada
- Provide accurate account details:
- Account number: Up to 12 digits (do not include leading zeros).
- EFT routing number: 9 digits, always starting with 0.
- Format: 0 + institution ID number (4 digits) + branch transit number (5 digits)
- If your institution ID has 3 digits, add a leading zero.
- You can find this information on a check.
Receiving payments in Colombia
If you choose to receive payments in Colombian Pesos (COP):
- Your bank may require additional documentation or authorization.
- Banks typically contact you if needed, but we recommend:
- Contacting your bank whenever CD Baby notifies you of a payment.
- This helps prevent payments from being returned.
Things to note
- Be sure to check with your bank and specify that you need to receive an international deposit (from the US). You will be responsible for any return fees.
- Payment timelines vary by country and banking institution.
- Always confirm details with your bank to avoid delays.
