If a payout is sent by CD Baby but cannot be delivered, the funds are returned and added back to your CD Baby account balance. You will need to correct the issue before the next payout cycle. Returned payouts also incur a fee depending on your payout method and location.
Why was my payout returned?
CD Baby payouts are typically returned for one of the following reasons:
- The bank account on file is closed or invalid
- The name on your payout profile does not match the name on the bank account
- Your banking details are incomplete
- Your bank rejected the transfer
What happens to my money?
When a payout is returned to CD Baby, the funds are added back to your CD Baby account balance. They will be included automatically in your next eligible payout cycle once the issue causing the return has been corrected. In most cases, you do not need to contact CD Baby to trigger a re-send — the next payout will process automatically when your account meets the required conditions.
Will I be charged a fee?
Yes. Returned payouts incur a fee that is deducted from your returned balance. Fees vary by payout method and location:
| Method | US | International |
|---|---|---|
| Bank Transfer | $5 | $20–$40 |
| PayPal | $5 | $5 |
| Wire Transfer | N/A | $30+ (third-party fee) |
How do I fix a returned payout?
The steps to resolve a returned payout depend on your payout method.
Bank Transfer: Log in and go to Payment & Tax Info to update your banking details. Make sure the account holder name on your payout profile exactly matches the name on your bank account. Once your details are corrected and your balance meets your Pay Point, your funds will be included in the next payout cycle automatically.
PayPal: You will need to resolve the issue directly with PayPal. CD Baby must wait for the funds to be returned before a new payout can be sent. Allow up to 30 days from the original send date, then contact CD Baby support to follow up.
All other methods: Allow 30 days from the original send date, confirm your payout details are correct in your account, then contact CD Baby support to request a re-issue.
