What is Music Reports, Inc.?
- Music Reports, Inc. is a rights administration platform used by major digital music services, as well as other companies and services to ensure they are properly paying songwriters for the use of their music.
- They work with companies and industries that other providers don’t, increasing the potential for earning mechanical royalties from your music.
- CD Baby offers Music Reports, Inc. through our CDB Boost services.
What releases are eligible?
- Music Reports, Inc. through CDB Boost can be added to new releases, older releases that have already opted into some Boost services, or older releases by adding CDB Boost.
- Only 100% original content is eligible for Music Reports, Inc. through CD Baby.
- Cover songs, public domain content, and/or tracks that use any non-exclusive elements like samples, loops, or leased beats are not eligible.
Does Music Reports, Inc. take a cut of my royalties?
- No.
- CD Baby does retain 15% of these royalties.
Legacy Pro Publishing Releases
- If you’ve successfully signed up for CD Baby Pro Publishing in the past, we will register those works with Music Reports, Inc. and collect any money owed to you on your behalf through our legacy Pro Publishing service.
- There is no need to add Music Reports Inc. through CDB Boost.
Cancelling Music Reports, Inc.
If you have opted in to Music Reports and now want to cancel, you can do so through the same CDB Boost page where you originally opted in.
- From the Title Overview of your release, click "Edit Boost Opt-Ins."
- Find the Music Reports, Inc. option on the opt-ins page and toggle it to opt out.
- Please note that when you cancel collection from Music Reports via your CDB account, that decision is permanent.
- The cancellation will take effect at the end of current quarter.
- For example, if you cancel in May it will take effect at the end of June. If you cancel in October it will take effect at the end of December.
- You will receive an email confirming the cancellation date.
- You may continue to see royalties from Music Reports posted to your CDB account after the cancellation takes effect.
