Use artist fields for the artists who perform on the recording. Put connector wording such as “meets,” “presents,” or “versus” in the release or track title where it describes the project.
Use artist fields for performers
Enter the names of the actual performing artists in the artist metadata. Do not combine unrelated artist names into one artist field just to reproduce a phrase shown on the cover.
If both artists perform, credit both as primary artists when the release format supports it. Use featured-artist credits only when the collaboration is genuinely a featured performance.
Put the phrase in the title
Use the title to communicate “Artist A meets Artist B,” “Artist A presents Artist B,” or “Artist A versus Artist B.” Make sure the wording on the artwork matches the release and track metadata.
Do not use “versus” or similar wording to imply a collaboration that is not present in the recording.
