Filing taxes for your sales on CD Baby

NOTE: We are NOT tax professionals and if you have any questions you should contact someone who is!

That said, here's how you can download your sales history and some other helpful info.

Standard albums and singles:

With Standard albums "Sales" we do not send you any kind of tax information although just like any other earned income you will need to report it to the government.

Here's how you can see your total CD Baby earnings for the year: 

  1. Log into your account
  2. Click Sales and Reports
  3. Click on Sales and Accounting 
  4. Click CD Baby Sales (All)
  5. Click on Filter Your Sales
  6. Check the "View Data From" box
  7. Enter a start date of Jan 01, (YEAR)- end date Dec 31, (YEAR)
  8. Click GO and you'll see your total CD & MP3 sales from your CD Baby retail page 

To see your total Digital Partner earnings for the year:

  1. From your account Dashboard click on "Sales and Reports" 
  2. Click on Sales and Accounting 
  3. Click on DD Sales by Partner 
  4. Click on Filter Your Sales
  5. Check the "View Data From" box
  6. Enter a start date of Jan 01, (YEAR)- end date Dec 31, (YEAR)
  7. Click GO and you'll see your total digital partner sales for that date range

If you want a downloadable spreadsheet with your sales data for the year:

  1. From your account Dashboard click on "Sales and Reports" 
  2. Click on Sales and Accounting 
  3. Scroll down to the DOWNLOADS header on the left menu bar
  4. Click on Yearly Sales Reports
  5. Here you can get a summary of either: Digital Distribution Sales, CD Baby Sales, Licensing and Royalties or All Account Transactions
  6. Choose the year of the report from the drop down
  7. Click on Download to the right of the report
  8. The system will then compile the data into a .txt file, and email you when it's ready to be downloaded from inside your account.
  9. You can then copy and paste the data from the .txt file into any spreadsheet program and sort it however you like. (Excel will auto format the information into the columns)

Pro albums and singles: 

Our CD Baby Pro clients will get a 1099 from us if they make over $10 in royalties for the year.

You can also get a breakdown of the Pro Royalty reports and those are posted to your account quarterly.

To see your Pro royalty report:

  1. Log into your account
  2. Click Sales and Reports
  3. Click on Sales and Accounting 
  4. Below the DOWNLOADS header on the left click on "PRO Royalty Reports"
  5. Choose which quarter you need results for from the drop down menu
  6. Click on DOWNLOAD
  7. This will generate a TXT. file you can save to your computer and open in any spreadsheet program
