You can add or update your tax info at any time in your CD Baby account. This helps ensure you’re paid correctly and avoids unnecessary withholding on your earnings.
How to add tax information
- Log into your CD Baby account
- Under the Manage heading, click Payment & Tax Info
- Scroll down and click Complete a Tax Form
- On the “Tax Form Selection” page, follow the prompts step by step, clicking Continue after each
- Choose how you want delivery of your tax statement (E-delivery or postal mail)
- Click Done to submit
- After submission, CD Baby reviews and approves your form
How to update your W-8 or W-9
- To change your existing tax form, submit a new one (replacing the old form)
- Click Complete a Tax Form and fill it out anew
- Note: For many users, W-8 forms expire after 3 years — you’ll be prompted to resubmit before expiration
What if I don't know my TIN/FTIN?
- TIN (Tax Identification Number) is required for correct withholding
-
In many countries, a national ID or business registration number qualifies, for example:
- Brazil: CPF or CNPJ
- Canada: Nine-digit Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN) or Business Number (BN)
- Finland: Finnish Social Security Number or Business ID
- France: SIREN
- Italy: TIN or Codice fiscale
- Mexico: Clave en el Registro Federal de Contribuyentes (RFC)
- Poland: PESEL number or TIN
- Turkey: National Identity Number or TIN
- UK: Unique taxpayer reference (UTR) or National Insurance Number (NINO)
- India: PAN or Permanent Account Number
- Make sure you enter the valid number — repeated rejections may require proof from a government-issued document
What if my TIN / FTIN is rejected?
- If it keeps getting rejected but you’re sure it’s correct, submit a request.
- Choose Payments, Earnings & Taxes > Multiple TIN/FTIN Fails from the dropdown.
- Provide a government-issued document (with your TIN and legal name) — do not include the number in the ticket message itself
Things to note
- Special characters or diacritics (like í, ñ, ç) aren’t accepted by our system
- All tax forms must be submitted in English
- You cannot fax or mail tax forms — they must be submitted through your account
- Incorrect or missing tax info may lead to higher withholding or delayed payments
