Why can't my classical release be delivered to Apple?

While CD Baby distributes classical genre music to most digital platforms, we’re currently unable to send classical releases to iTunes and Apple Music because Apple requires additional metadata and formatting that our system doesn’t support.

What this means

A new release identified as classical will be excluded from delivery to Apple Music/iTunes. This does not automatically prevent delivery to other selected partners.

Previously delivered classical releases are not affected by this restriction, although Apple’s own catalog decisions still apply.

Check the release genre

Choose the genre that best describes the recording. For wider distribution, you may want to choose to re-categorize your release as "Instrumental", or another related genre, as they don’t have the same additional metadata requirements. 

However, please note that we cannot change the genre of a release after it's been approved in order to make it eligible for delivery to Apple Music and iTunes.
