If you notice YouTube videos featuring your music that you didn’t upload yourself, don’t worry — this is completely normal. These videos are called Art Tracks, and they’re automatically created by YouTube as part of their partnership with CD Baby and other distributors.
What are Art Tracks?
- Art Tracks are auto-generated videos that include:
- Your album artwork
- The audio from your release
- Metadata such as the song title, artist name, and album name
- These are published to a YouTube Topic Channel (for example, Artist Name – Topic).
- The purpose of Art Tracks is to make your music easier to find and stream on YouTube and YouTube Music, even if you haven’t uploaded it yourself.
Why does YouTube do this?
- Art Tracks are created when/if your music is delivered to YouTube Music.
- YouTube creates Art Tracks so your music is available on both YouTube and YouTube Music under the same artist identity.
- It allows fans to listen to your songs for free or through a YouTube Music subscription.
- You earn revenue from ads and streams just like on other digital music platforms.
Where can I find my Art Tracks?
- Search for your artist name followed by “Topic” on YouTube (e.g., Your Name – Topic).
- You’ll find all the Art Tracks generated for your releases distributed through CD Baby.
- These are managed automatically by YouTube’s system — not by your personal YouTube channel.
Things to note
- These videos are not duplicates or copyright violations — they’re official, licensed uploads.
- You can’t delete or edit Art Tracks directly, but if something appears under the wrong artist name or topic channel, you can request an artist separation through CD Baby.
- Any ad revenue or streams from these videos are reported and paid out through your CD Baby account.
- If you're not interested in being a part of the YouTube Music platform, you can cancel delivery to YouTube Music.
- Note: Removing YouTube Music from your distribution will also opt you out of YouTube Monetization (aka Content ID). You must have YouTube Music as part of your distribution to take part in YouTube Monetization.
