Heads up: CD Baby's Download Portal is being retired. We're preparing to retire the Download Portal and digital download cards in Spring 2026. We'll share more specific timelines and any instructions in the coming weeks. For now, you can continue to download previously purchased music and redeem any distributed download cards. |
If you’re having trouble downloading audio files, such as nothing happening when you click download, corrupt file errors, or glitches in the music, there are simple steps you can take to resolve these issues. Here’s how to troubleshoot common problems.
Download button does nothing
If the file transfer doesn’t start:
- Your browser may have blocked the download pop-up.
Try this:
- Log into your account and click Download again.
- Look for a yellow/orange bar near the top of your browser window that says:
- “To protect your security, [browser name] has blocked a pop-up…”
- Click the bar and select Download file.
- Click the Download button again to start the transfer.
Error: “File is corrupt”
- Usually caused by:
- Interrupted download.
- Trying to unzip before the download finishes.
- Fix:
- Delete the incomplete file.
- Log back into your account and download again.
- Wait until the download reaches 100% before extracting.
Glitches or artifacts in downloaded music
- This can usually be fixed.
- Most audio artifacts are rare encoding issues.
- If you notice digital blips or skipping:
- Submit a request via our support form here.
- We’ll provide a corrected file.
- In rare cases, artifacts may be part of the original recording.
- Still contact us—we’ll review and help where possible.
Things to Note
- Always allow downloads to fully complete before opening files.
- Browser security settings often block pop-ups—check for alerts.
