Heads up: CD Baby's Download Portal is being retired. You can continue to download previously purchased music and redeem any distributed download cards until the portal closes. We'll share more specific timelines and instructions as the date approaches. |
How to redeem your download card
If you've received a CD Baby download card, follow these steps to access your music:
- Go to the Redeem Download Card page.
- Enter your 12-digit code, including the dash, and click Redeem Card.
- Log into your existing CD Baby account or create a new one.
- You'll see an order confirmation number (also called a Sales Order/SO number). A copy will be emailed to you for your records.
- Click Get Your Downloads to access your music.
My code isn't working
Double-check for these common character mix-ups:
- The letter O vs. the number 0
- A capital I vs. a lowercase l
- A capital B vs. the number 8
If the code still doesn't work, submit a request to our support team and include the code you entered, the artist name, and the album name printed on the card. We'll verify it for you.
How to download your tracks
After redeeming your card or completing checkout, you'll land on the Your Digital Download History page.
- Find your album or tracks and click Download.
- When prompted, choose Save.
- Wait for the download to reach 100% before opening or extracting any files.
Note: CD Baby doesn't store master recordings for artists using our distribution service. For help importing music into iTunes or another media player, see this article.
Troubleshooting download issues
The Download button does nothing
Your browser may have blocked the download pop-up. Look for a yellow or orange bar near the top of your browser window saying something like "To protect your security, [browser name] has blocked a pop-up…" If you see it:
- Click the bar and select Download file.
- Click the Download button again to start the transfer.
If there's no bar, try logging out and back in, then click Download again.
I'm getting a "file is corrupt" error
This usually means the download was interrupted, or you tried to unzip the file before it finished. To fix it:
- Delete the incomplete file.
- Log back into your account and download again.
- Wait until the download reaches 100% before extracting.
