You can pitch eligible unreleased music to Spotify's editorial team through Spotify for Artists. Spotify decides which songs to add, so submitting a song does not guarantee playlist placement.
Quick summary
- Deliver the release to Spotify and claim your Spotify for Artists page before you pitch.
- Pitch one eligible unreleased song from the release.
- Submit early enough to meet Spotify's deadline.
- Your first release generally cannot be pitched because you cannot claim your artist page before it goes live.
Before you start
You'll need:
- A release submitted for distribution and delivered to Spotify.
- A claimed Spotify for Artists page.
- Enough time for CD Baby inspection, delivery, Spotify processing, and Spotify's pitch deadline.
The release may take two to three days to appear as unreleased music in Spotify for Artists.
Submit a song
- Log in to Spotify for Artists.
- Find your unreleased music from Home or Profile.
- Select Get Started for the release you want to pitch, or open the release menu and select Submit a Song.
- Choose an eligible song.
- Complete Spotify's submission form with accurate, detailed information.
- Submit the pitch before Spotify's deadline.
Plan enough lead time
Spotify requires a pitch at least seven days before release, and we recommend submitting the release to CD Baby three to four weeks in advance so there is time for review, distribution, processing, and pitching.
Eligibility notes
- The song must be unreleased and meet Spotify's current editorial-pitch rules.
- A first release is generally ineligible because the artist page cannot be claimed in time.
- Playlist placement is not guaranteed.
