How to Get Your Music on Instagram Stories and Reels

How your music gets into Instagram's library

CD Baby delivers your music to Instagram as part of the Facebook and Instagram monetization program. Once delivered, your tracks become available in Instagram's music picker, which users can browse when creating Stories and Reels. You do not need to take any additional steps beyond opting into Facebook and Instagram monetization — delivery happens automatically for eligible content.

Allow at least 30 days after opting in for your music to appear in the library. If your music is not appearing after 30 days and your release is confirmed as delivered and eligible, contact CD Baby support.

How to add music to your own Instagram Reel

To use music from Instagram's library in your own Reel:

1. Open Instagram and tap the + icon to create a new post.
2. Select Reel.
3. Tap the music note icon to open the music picker.
4. Search for your track by name.
5. Select the portion of the track you want to use.
6. Record or upload your video, then share.

What to do if your music isn't appearing

If your track is not showing up in Instagram's music picker:

• Confirm you have opted into Facebook and Instagram monetization for that release.
• Confirm your release has been delivered and is eligible — cover songs and public domain recordings are not delivered to Instagram.
• Allow at least 30 days from delivery before expecting your music to be available.
• Confirm your release has not been removed from the monetization program.
