How to opt in or out of Social Video Monetization

Summary

Social Video Monetization is optional. You can opt in or out of each platform (YouTube, Facebook/Instagram, TikTok) independently through your CD Baby account. Changes may take up to 30 days to take effect across platforms.

How to opt in

You can opt in to SVM during the setup of a new release, or at any time for an existing release through your CD Baby account dashboard. To opt in for an existing release:

1. Log in to your CD Baby account.
2. Navigate to your Social Video Monetization dashboard.
3. Select the release you want to opt in.
4. Toggle on the platform(s) you want to participate in.
5. Accept the Social Video Monetization Addendum if prompted.
6. Save your changes.

Once opted in, allow at least 30 days for your music to be delivered and active on each platform. YouTube Content ID claims may take an additional 2–3 weeks to begin appearing after delivery.

Your content will be reviewed for eligibility as part of the delivery process. If your content is deemed ineligible for any platform, CD Baby will contact you.

How to opt out

To opt out of SVM for a release:

1. Log in to your CD Baby account.
2. Navigate to your Social Video Monetization dashboard.
3. Select the release you want to opt out.
4. Toggle off the platform(s) you want to leave.
5. Save your changes.

Opting out stops future claims and monetization, but does not immediately remove existing claims. Allow up to 30 days for full removal of your content from platform systems. If you need expedited removal, contact CD Baby support.

How to opt back in after opting out

CD Baby must wait 30 days after processing your opt-out before reactivating your monetization. If you want to opt back in:

1. Confirm your release meets eligibility requirements.
2. Submit a request through our Help Center form: Customer Support > YouTube & Social Video > Opt back in to Facebook / Instagram / TikTok / Content ID (Or, click here to open the right form).
3. If the 30-day period has not yet passed, CD Baby will hold your request until you are eligible.
4. Please note that it can take up to six months for us to process your request to opt back into SVM. 

CD Baby will only contact you if your content is found to be ineligible when opting back in.
