Neighbouring Rights (aka Related Rights) is a royalty type payable to artists and/or labels as the owner of a Sound Recording.
Neighbouring Rights refer to the right to publicly perform a Sound Recording. This is similar to, but should not be confused with performance rights, which refer to the right to publicly perform a musical composition.
This royalty type exists in several countries, but it does not exist in the US.
CD Baby does not collect Neighbouring Rights at this time. Please contact your local Neighbouring Rights collection society to see how you can collect this royalty type.
Take a look at this DIY Musician blog article to learn more about the different streams of revenue that can be generated by your sound recording, including Neighbouring Rights.
