Remember, there is a significant delay between the time a royalty is generated and the time they are paid out to you. Collection societies pay out royalties to songwriters and publishers 2 quarters after the royalty was generated - this is when you'll receive your songwriter share directly from your PRO. Once we receive the publisher share and mechanical royalties, those are paid into your CD Baby account another 2 quarters behind, amounting to a delay of about 9-12 months. Those royalties will be paid into your account at the beginning of the quarter.
Here is a breakdown of each quarter:
Quarter 1: January-March
Quarter 2: April-June
Quarter 3: July-September
Quarter 4: October-December

- This will generate a TXT. file you can save to your computer and open in any spreadsheet program. like Excel
In order to move this data to a spreadsheet program like Excel, simply copy and paste the data from the TXT. file into an empty Excel document.
You will notice that your report will be broken down by song, and by songwriter. We suggest sorting the spread sheet by song or songwriter to find the totals you need. This way, you don't have to sift through the report lines to figure out how much your co-writers are owed per song, the math is already done for you!
*The CD Baby Pro Publishing service was discontinued as of August 8th, 2023.
