Tiktok is the leading destination for short-form, mobile video and it allows you to let your fans create and share fun viral videos using your music. And hey, you may even get new fans!
Think of TikTok as a discovery tool. Most of the videos are 15 seconds long and can help potential fans discover your music. By using our distribution service, those new fans can find you at our partners like Apple, Spotify, or Tidal, and stream the heck out of your songs.

TikTok Custom Clip Times
While you may see other songs with varying clip times, CD Baby's agreement with TikTok only allows for 15-second audio clips at this time. The total amount of audio you or a fan can choose from is actually 60 seconds, but only 15 seconds of that audio will be able to appear in a video clip.
Once a user has selected your song, they will have the ability to trim any part of those 60 seconds into a 15-second clip. The lovely folks at our DIY blog have a super helpful how-to video on how to add music to TikTok here.
How are the 60-second clips chosen? Good question. TikTok uses an algorithm that determines what it thinks will be the best spot within the track for that 60 seconds of audio to come from.
An artist earns money when a new video is CREATED and their music is added to that video from the SOUNDS library inside the app.
TikTok serves videos to viewers based on its own internal algorithm. Viewers don't search for specific videos. Therefore, the number of viewers or views a video has doesn't affect how much the creator of the underlying music earns. What does affect your earnings is the number of new, unique videos your music can be heard in.
Why do some TikTok sales show no money earned?
We report both the views and the number of new videos created in your CD Baby account. The views will show $0.00000 earned.
The reports may post on separate days, but we will post both the new videos created (which earn you money) and the number of views (which don't).
How do I get my song linked to my TikTok profile?
At this time, your TikTok artist profile must be verified in order to link with your music. Unfortunately if you do not have a verified TikTok profile, there’s currently no way to link your music to it.
How do I get verified on TikTok?
Getting verified on TikTok works differently from the steps you might take on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. With TikTok, a dedicated team must select your account. There is no application process and your follower count doesn’t play a role in getting verified. Some popular creators have hundreds of thousands of followers (even millions!) but no blue check mark.
Here are some things you can do to increase the chances that you’ll get selected. According to TikTok’s official newsroom, the following criteria are said to help your account get verified:
