As an artist living in Brazil, there are two different ways you'll receive your money. This is determined by how your funds will be deposited by your financial institution, regardless of the currency you chose during the sign-up process. Unfortunately, we do not have clarity on this but want to share with you what to expect.
If your currency is deposited in USD
If the currency is ingested by your financial institution in US dollars, your money will be sent from CD Baby to your financial institution in Brazil. Note that each financial institution has their own processing time after the payment is sent to them, and for this reason the time to receive the funds will vary.
If your currency is deposited in BRL
If the currency is ingested by your financial institution in Brazilian Real, your money will be sent from CD Baby to a third-party financial institution. This financial institution will be contacting you to register you with the Central Bank of Brazil (which is required by the government in Brazil for international payments). Once the registration has been processed, the funds will be released to your financial institution.
Requesting an Invoice/Statement/Swift Wire Confirmation
Third-party financial institutions will request an invoice/statement/wire transfer from the CD Baby Brazilian Artist to confirm that CD Baby is sending the money. In order to obtain that, reach out to our support team. You can do so by submitting a request and selecting "Earnings from my music" under "Sales, Payments, and Taxes" and put the subject line as "Swift Wire Confirmation." Our agents will request this documentation on your behalf and provide it to you.
Once this has been confirmed with the third-party financial institution, your funds will be released to your financial institution.
